Fulfillment
What is FNSKU?
Fulfillment Network Stock Keeping Unit
The barcode Amazon uses to tie a physical unit in its warehouse network to your seller account. It is what separates your units from another seller's identical product once they are inside the same building.
Why it matters in practice
An ASIN identifies a product in the catalog. An FNSKU identifies whose units they are inside the fulfillment network. That difference is the whole reason the label exists. Amazon can either commingle identical products from many sellers or keep each seller's units separate, and the FNSKU label is what makes the separate path possible. It matters to an operator in two ordinary situations. First, if units arrive unlabeled or mislabeled, they can be held or matched to the wrong seller, and untangling that after the fact is slow. Second, if you sell the same product under more than one listing, the label is what keeps the inventory pools straight. The practical habit is simple: whoever applies the label, your supplier, your prep partner or your own team, checks a sample against the listing before the freight leaves.
